A Project Vernon team  of volunteers manned a stand for Families Day on Whale Island on 26 Jul 13.  After a dull start,  it turned into a gloriously sunny day and the team raised several pounds for the  cause beside spreading word among interested families.

Volunteers comprised of Ian Morton and Brian Dutton (accompanied by his wife Audrey), Tony Devitt  (accompanied by his wife Dawn),  Mike Handford (accompanied by his grandson  Jack), Martyn Holloway, Rob Hoole, David Sandiford and Dixie Dean. We saw some familiar  faces throughout the day. One of the first to visit as we were setting up was Captain Colin Welborn Royal Navy  taking a lunchtime break as well as Commander Paul Jones Royal Navy, CO of HMS EXCELLENT and former Chairman of Project Vernon.

Our new exhibit, ‘Deeps the Diver’ proved to be a popular attraction with the children who all wanted a photograph of themselves in a Standard Diving suit.  The new range of polo shirts, hoodies and T-shirts were also on sale as were some smaller items all of which are available in our on-line Shop.

A great afternoon for all concerned and some money raised towards the installation of the monument in Gunwharf Quays. Watch this space for the next event.
