Prize Draw in August

After a busy 7 months of ticket sales, the winning tickets were drawn on the August Bank Holiday Monday at HMS EXCELLENT (witnessed by Paul Jones (MCDOA), ‘Dixie’ Dean (MWA) and members of the Duty Watch) . The lucky winners are listed below and have all been notified. The distribution accurately reflects the general spread of ticket sales, including people serving in minehunters and diving teams, as well as ex-servicemen and members of the general public: two randomly bought, yet from the same road! Top unit sales status went to HMS SHOREHAM, with £300 of tickets sold and 3 prize winners on board!

Two thirds of ticket sales were generated by serving and ex-serving Mine Warfare & Diving community, with MCMV crews raising over £1,500 and Horsea Island staff, students and Fleet Diving squadron more than £1,300. Other notable contributions came from the Mine Warfare Association, the Naval HQ, Shrivenham Defence Academy, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and the City of London and Northern Diving Group, plus over £1,000 from ticket sales to members of the public during events such as Navy Days, organised by ex-WO(MW) ‘Dixie’ Dean and his teams.

We also need to thank the individuals who donated prizes (Paul Jones, Sean Meleady and Paul Guiver) and our friends at Gunwharf Quays, P&O Ferries, Wightlink, Merlin Entertainments and Divex. In total, £6,352 was generated in ticket sales – providing £5,855 for Project Vernon’s funds plus £310 donated to our friends at ‘Help for Heroes’.
